Front Panel Programming (FPP) Feature

(Learning and Defining Radio Features)

HGDefinitionMob%26Port.jpg

The FPP feature allows the radio-user to modify Conventional channel parameters directly through the radio's front panel, meaning the radio's menu navigation and keypad buttons. The radio-user can therefore re-program certain Conventional communications fields without the use of the CPS. WFForward.png FPP is selected by the radio-user with the DotRed.png Front Panel Programming menu item selection. Note that only channels of FPP-enabled Zones can be Front Panel Programmed by the radio-user. Zones may be CPS-defined as FPP-enabled from the Zone Channel Assignment’s FPP Enable field on a per-zone basis. FPP password protection is possible; see the Radio Wide, Protected Zone Password field.

When the 12.5 kHz FCC Narrowbanding Mandate applies for the codeplug, programming of exception frequencies must be carried out using the CPS, and not this FPP feature.

The FCC requires that an FPP Dongle be attached to the radio in order for the radio-user to access this feature. This is true unless you are exempt from FCC compliance.
